Summer Fun

Posted by Tamie on Sunday, July 13, 2008

This picture was suppose to be last because I hate giving the bad news first. But alas--I'm not sure how to manipulate blogger very well. I got strep two more times (making it 7 for the year) and finally relented to getting my tonsils out. It was about the most painful thing I've ever been through.
But the best news of the summer is next. Ryan took a leave of absence to work on his project at home for two months. We've been so spoiled. Even though he's working it just feels good to know he's there.
I think we make a million or maybe a zillion smoothies every day. It's a great way to trick the kids into some nutrition. They all hoard around what they call "the machine." (It reminds me of the Princess Bride). Everyone wants to scoop the ingredients, put the lid on, push the button. I have to make out a whole game plan telling them who gets to do what before we start otherwise people will end up seriously injured (or at least my ears will).
The uncles living it up at the Ritz Carlton in Colorado. Katie and I must have been getting our massages and pedicures. What an awesome treat from the greatest Dad!
This has got to be my favorite place to be. In the sun, by the pool listening to Ryan read to me. We've been reading the Septimus Heap books. So fun!
So we pull up to the Ritz Carlton in our trashy suburban with our crazy kids but they were still nice to us. The boys got these hats from the workers. What a fun memory. We've never stayed anywhere so nice: stickers on the toilet paper, marble bathroom, wooden floors, huge moldings, complicated bath knobs--wow.
Grandma Janet has been busy with her Curves business but we've loved the few minutes we get from all the family members who stop by now and then. We always anticipate Sunday dinner with the Heatons (picture yet to come).
It's been fun to invite neighbors out for fire pits and smores in the evenings.
We couldn't miss riding on Thomas the Tank Engine in Heber.
Tons of swimming! I knew I had to live by water. We're in the pool at least once a day. I finally bought a pool lounger this week and my big plans for the week are to use it as much as possible. There is so much fun within our own backyard that some weeks we get in the Suburban to go to Grandma's on Sunday and notice the church CD is still in the car because we haven't driven it all week.
That's my kind of summer (minus the tonsillectomy).

Hi, Heatons! I just heard from Luella out of the blue, and I noticed that you guys on her blog. Sorry to hear about the tonsils Tammie- I did that a couple of years ago and it was not my favorite. My dr. warned me that it was less fun than child birth... though it will be a few months until I'll know how it compares to having twins. Hope you guys are doing well!
